And We’re Off…

And We’re Off…

We have just been welcomed by Dave, Stuart and James, who have been overwhelmed by the popularity of the event. They never imagined the event sell out in just four hours. The room is packed with coffee supping UX gurus, with standing room only for the introduction to the event.

Stuart set the scene by providing a background to the Bristol Usability Group (BUG), which rose from the ashes of the South West Usability Group, which naturally ran its course. A group of 8-10 people used to get together once a month to chat about usability, but more recently they set up a social network using Ning, which has now grown to 400 members. The group has gone from strength to strength, attracting more high profile speakers. Stuart emphasised that BUG is not-for-profit, so any profits from events will be ploughed into doing more events or going into schools.

The meat of the day is a series of parallel workshops focussing on a wide range of issues. Participants are now spreading out across these sessions and getting ready to tuck in. We will be tweeting live from Eva-Lotta Lamm’s session on Sketching for UX designers, so stay tuned!
